Alternative Pathways to Physiotherapy
Entry pathways into physiotherapy beyond the standard ATAR route. Each has different requirements and trade-offs.
Direct undergraduate entry
Bachelor of Physiotherapy from high school. Competitive - most programs include clinical placements and professional registration on graduation.
Graduate entry (DPT/MPT)
Doctor of Physiotherapy or Master of Physiotherapy entered after a relevant Bachelor degree (e.g. Exercise Science, Health Science, Human Movement). GPA-based selection.
Rural and regional pathway
Select universities offer dedicated places for rural background students or at regional campuses, with reduced ATAR cutoffs.
Exercise/Health Science pathway
If you miss direct-entry physiotherapy, complete a Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science or similar health degree, then apply to a graduate-entry Masters in Physiotherapy.
